David Raya

Aside from a sloppy goal conceded at the worst time possible, it was unfair on the Spaniard to be on the losing side given he was virtually forced into no big saves. 6

Zanka

A decent performance but not making an attempt to block Ben Chilwell’s shot which led to his goal on the stroke of half-time, was fatal at a time Brentford needed the whistle for the half-time more than anyone. Did make an important interception to deny Lukaku going clean through in the second half. 5

Pontus Jansson

Extremely unfortunate to see his effort thwarted by Mendy’s body late on. Did very well up against Lukaku. 6

Ethan Pinnock

Like Jansson, the centre half also fared well against the Belgian and forged a good partnership with Henry, trying to set the latter down the left hand side when possible. 6

Sergi Canos

Didn’t fare too badly but wasn’t at his full capabilities like he displayed against West Ham. 5

Mathias Jensen

Replacing Vitaly Janelt, the Dane didn’t fare too badly but a lapse of concentration for Chilwell’s goal proved costly. 5

Christian Norgaard

Almost got Brentford a point if it wasn’t for Mendy’s acrobatics. Aside from that, a fine performance from the Dane. 6

Frank Onyeka

The Nigerian did well against Chelsea’s physical midfield especially after playing for Nigeria during the week. 6

Rico Henry

Showed his defensive steel by dealing with Azpilicueta reasonably well and did well going forward – certainly one of the Bees’ best performers on the night. 6

Bryan Mbeumo

So unlucky to hit the post twice at crucial stages in the game, but the Frenchman continues to show why he is important to their attack with his persistent running wherever he tends to be. 6

Ivan Toney

The usual from Brentford’s frontman, making important headers from Chelsea’s set-pieces and often found himself on the left-wing performing hi He might have had a free header towards goal in the first half but collided with Pinnock as they both went for the ball. Did everything to get Brentford back into the contest. 6

Subs

Marcus Forss

No Yoane Wissa meant the Finn was able to get more game-time than he would have liked in recent weeks, and he tried his best to help Brentford take something, seeing a shot blocked but to no avail. 5

Saman Ghoddos

Like Forss, the Iranian hasn’t had many minutes for the Bees this season, but he looked lively when he came on. He had two huge opportunities to test Mendy but skewered his effort which the keeper comfortably took with open arms and shot straight at the Blues ‘keeper when he should have scored. 5
