Chelsea squad revealed for Brentford trip as Thomas Tuchel suffers major Antonio Rudiger blow

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel could be without four key players for Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Brentford.

The Blues, who are currently top of the table, have suffered a couple of blows when it comes to the fitness of their players in the international break.

Antonio Rudiger suffered a back injury while on Germany duty and the defender missed his country’s meeting with North Macedonia in the week.

Meanwhile, Thiago Silva has gone through a lot of travelling in recent days and will only return to the UK on Saturday afternoon, so he is unlikely to be available to Tuchel.

Christian Pulisic has been injured for a few weeks now and despite stepping up his recovery recently, the USA international is set to remain sidelined at Brentford.

Tuchel addressed the latest team news on Friday afternoon and also admitted that Hakim Ziyech is a doubt through illness, but there was a positive update regarding the fitness of Romelu Lukaku.

“Thiago will be back in the afternoon tomorrow, hopefully safe from this match in Brazil,” Tuchel said in his pre-match press conference.

“We had our talk and tactical training, he missed all that. He played 90 minutes and had 12 hours of travelling so that gives you the answer.

“Toni Rudiger is injured, came back injured from the national team. Christian Pulisic is still injured.

“We also have doubts with Hakim Ziyech who has missed the last couple of sessions with a headache. Romelu is fine and will be involved tomorrow.”
