Spurs travel to the Netherlands to play Vitesse on Thursday night, as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side look to continue their unbeaten run in the Europa Conference League.
Nuno Espirito Santo looks set to make a number of changes, after 10 outfield players that beat Newcastle United on Sunday were missing from Wednesday’s training session at Hotspur Way.
Matt Doherty and Ryan Sessegnon are set to miss Thursday’s game against the Dutch side, with Doherty still out with an injury picked up on international duty and Sessegnon continuing his recovery.
Hugo Lloris is expected to be given a rest with deputy goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini stepping in to replace the French shot-stopper.
So, what line-up will Nuno select? And, what could the final score be?
We used FIFA 22 to get a UEFA Europa Conference League score prediction for Vitesse v Spurs and this is what happened …
Vitesse v Spurs score predicted by FIFA 22 simulation
We used kick-off mode in FIFA 22, but didn’t select a team to control, we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a score prediction.
We predict that Spurs could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Gollini; Tanganga, Sanchez, Rodon, Davies; Winks, Skipp, Bergwijn, Lo Celso, Gil; Scarlett.
We predict that Vitesse could set up in a 3-4-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Schubert; Doekhi, Bazoer, Rasmussen; Dasa, Bero, Tronstad, Wittek; Openda, Frederiksen, Gboho.
Spurs started on the back foot as Vitesse put Nuno’s side under a lot of pressure in the opening 10 minutes, with Gollini making a number of top saves to keep the score level.
Ben Davies gifted Vitesse a penalty in the 20th minute as the Welsh defender dangled his leg out, catching Gboho as he ran into the box.
The penalty was saved by Gollini who dived down to his left and palmed the ball away with a strong hand, keeping the score at 0-0 and making sure Spurs didn’t suffer an early set back.
Winks, Skipp and Lo Celso were able to dictate the play after the early pressure had faded with the momentum swinging in favour of Spurs, as Bergwijn failed to convert a couple of chances just before half-time.
With the score still level moving into the second half, Spurs started the turn the screw and create better chances for the likes of Gil, Lo Celso and Bergwijn.
Dane Scarlett broke the deadlock with a fierce strike after Lo Celso fed the ball through the Vitesse defence into the youngster’s path to strike the ball first time past Schubert.
Just eight minutes later, Scarlett bagged his second of the game with a wonderful long-distance strike in off of the post.
Skipp and Winks worked the ball well in midfield before playing it wide to Gil, the Spaniard dribbled past two defenders before playing it to Lo Celso who fed it through to Scarlett, as the young striker fired the ball in from the edge of the box.
Scarlett’s double would seal the three points for Spurs after a difficult early spell in the game, with Gollini’s penalty save the clear turning point for the away side as they travelled back to London with another win under their belt.
FIFA 22 predicted final score: Vitesse 0-2 Spurs
Here are the full-time match stats.
FIFA 22 predicts that Spurs will struggle under the early pressure put on them by Vitesse as they struggled to create any clear chances and conceded a penalty in the opening 20 minutes.
But, Spurs would go on to dominate the game after the penalty save as Scarlett’s brace was enough to seal the three points as Nuno’s side marched on towards qualification from Group G.
