Mason Mount and the Cobham heroes rock Stamford Bridge in a 7-0 thrashing over Norwich

A 7-0 win at home, in front of the Chelsea fans… Now that’s what I am talking about!

What an absolute treat for Chelsea fans across the world. The boys in blue put on an emphatic display to take the three points from a struggling Norwich side. Despite the injury setbacks of Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, and Christian Pulisic, Chelsea managed to score seven goals, retaining their top spot on the Premier League table.

Rival fans have called our football ‘too defensive’ and ‘boring’. How about that for a performance? I must say if this is what happens whenever the boys from Cobham are in tip-top shape… the best is yet to come from this Chelsea side.

It was a devasting day for Norwich but boy was Chelsea at their utmost best. I’ve yearned to see Chelsea’s ruthless side under Tuchel during his reign. A more attacking setup saw the beastly nature of Chelsea’s attack unleashed. Callum Hudson-Odoi on the left, Mason Mount on the right, Ben Chilwell and Reece James on the overlap – goodness me, I felt overwhelmed for the Canaries.

The floodgates opened with Mason Mounts’ first goal of the season, his first since Chelsea’s Champions League semi-final in May. After just seven minutes into the first half, a layoff from Jorginho was met with Mount’s right foot who struck the ball through the defender’s legs, into the bottom left corner. A way too sexy finish.

It wasn’t long until Callum Hudson Odoi’s consistent runs on the left flank were finally rewarded with a goal. The 18th minute struck and so did CHO. A perfectly timed run by CHO was spotted by Mateo Kovacic in midfield and the rest was history.

To complete the Cobham hat trick, Reece James closed the first half with a clever dink past Tim Krul to make it 3-0.

There was so much to unpack from an emphatic first half but the second half took the headlines for Mason Mount. His hunger today was unmatched and rewarded with a well-earned hat trick.

A heart-stopping penalty miss was thankfully retaken due to Tim Krul being too far off of his line. On the retake, Mount managed to score with a cool finish. To put the icing on the cake, Ruben Loftus-Cheek with an opportunity in front of goal in stoppage was unselfish and passed the chance over to Mount to complete his hat trick.

From not scoring at all this season, to having his first senior hat trick at Stamford Bridge. The fans have never felt so connected with the club. The Cobham graduates on the score sheet five times in one game, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek oozing with confidence, Ben Chilwell currently in the best form of his life. There are so many things to celebrate today, but for now, we take pride in the fact that we remain top of the table in stunning fashion.
