Edu can repeat £23m masterstroke and use Gabriel to bring Ligue 1’s next big star to Arsenal – Bailey Keogh

Arsenal could reignite their relationship with Ligue 1 side Lille once again, which will excite the north London fan base.

The Gunners have been regular shoppers at the French club, having signed Gervinho, Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel Magalhaes in recent years.

And they could take one more visit with the motive to solve the incoming striker crisis emerging within north London.

Jonathan David has been excelling for Lille this season, and according to The Athletic, Arsenal have been a long-time admirer of the young striker.

Edu had major success with the last signing from Les Dogues, as Gabriel has been a sensation since joining the Gunners in 2019.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Folarin Balogun are set to be the only senior forwards at the club, as Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette’s contracts are set to expire at the end of the season, meaning they will have to be sold, or they can leave on a free transfer.

David’s signature will also follow Edu’s recruitment plan of signing promising players under the age of 23, which has proved to work a treat so far this campaign, as Mikel Arteta’s young side currently sit in joint-fourth place.

Arsenal’s success rate with signing young players recently has been at a high percentage and the fact that the club have been following the Canadian international for three years should give Edu the green light to make the signing.

Gabriel was signed for £23m which proved to be a bargain and transfermarkt are valuing David at £31m which would be another steal for the Gunners.
