Let’s be honest, 2022 has not seen Chelsea play the most convincing football of the last decade.
But they’re winning week after week, and almost without anyone noticing they’ve transitioned from “scraping results” to “ruthless efficiency.”
Today was a great example. The Blues fired in two goals in the first half, then really shut the the game down. The massive, raucous home crowd did everything they could to get their team back into it, but Chelsea were too calm and too well drilled to allow themselves to get dragged into a battle.
They were winning when they were playing badly, now they’re winning when they’re playing well. We can’t wait to see what’s next, as this team certainly has a couple more gears to go through. It will be a tense international break hoping that there are no injuries to disrupt this momentum, but if we can survive that fortnight and come back in this same groove, we’ve got a fantastic finish to the season in store.
