Thomas Tuchel has a lot of players in his squad who he needs to give minutes to, so his recent cup teams haven’t had a whole lot of youth in them.
It’s frustrating for fans, but everyone can understand why Tuchel wants to keep everyone in the senior team involved and up to speed at all times.
Yesterday the only true youngster who got a chance was Harvey Vale, who got subbed on at the end and make a typically bright, buzzing cameo.
He then returned to London with the rest of the team, but rather than a rest with the others, he was right back in action today, just 24 hours later.
He played from the start for Chelsea’s Development Squad, who are dangerously close to relegation and seriously needed his help.
They ended up with a 1-0 win over Leeds, a big 3 points for them, and Vale was able to get some solid minutes after all.
