Nizaar Kinsella is one of the top Chelsea reporters around, and he’s been all over the news about who the new owners might be.
He seemed to be the chosen mouthpiece of the Saudi Media bid, and had all the information on that offer, and today he’s added an interesting comment to the whole process by noting the following in his column on Goal.com:
“Although the eventual owner of Chelsea is currently not known by anybody, there are feelings around the process that a United States consortium will win.”
Now we don’t know where that information has come from – it may well be that that information has also come from the Saudi Media group, and they are just feeling pessimistic about their chances now the bids are in, or it could be from another source entirely.
Either way, we can see the logic. The American consortia seem to have the three magic ingredients for a successful bid – major money, experience in similar investments, and no political red flags attached.
The priority is speed, and any bids which can show they have everything ready and in place will likely be the ones chosen to move forward.
