Reece James set to withdraw from England duty » Chelsea News

The Evening Standard are reporting that Reece James is set to pull out of the England squad for this international break.

It was a surprise to see him called up at all – after almost two months out with a hamstring injury, James returned to action earlier this month, only to end up picking up another issue.

He’s close to a return, but risking the rest of his club season to play a couple relatively insignificant games for England. Thomas Tuchel said in the press conference before the game against Middlesbrough last weekend that he recommended his right back not go to play for his country, and Dan Kilpatrick is now reporting that that will be announced later today.

Gareth Southgate won’t be too upset – he praised Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell in the press conference this week, and now will get a chance to see the youngster up close as James’ replacement.
