Spurs to beat the other sides and grab that final Champions League spot?

Premier League

As many as four clubs are fighting for a single Champions League spot and at the moment, it’s Arsenal are occupying the fourth position on the Premier League table. Spurs are just behind their North London rivals though and according to Martin Keown, it’s the Lilywhites who are going to overtake the Gunners.

Spurs have just picked up a massive win against West Ham United and with this loss, the Hammers are more or less out of the race. The three points have helped Spurs move within two points of Arsenal and as per Keown, Conte’s side should be able to grab the final UCL spot by the end of May.

Speaking on BT Sport on Saturday, as quoted by Metro, Keown said: “I think it’s about Arsenal rebuilding their reputation because you do that over many years. If people think you’re a soft touch at some point you fall over.

“Now, people are getting a bit of taste of Arsenal, realising it’s stronger, totally different. They’re playing this nice constructive football and going to be resilient.

“Gabriel today at the back was tight and strong, Ben White alongside him and Partey in front never really ventured too far. It’s nice and strong in those compartments.

“Now there’s a lot of games ahead and I still put Spurs as favourites to make top four. Let’s see if they can do it. Arsenal, we have now got to see, but when I look at the fixtures and I see games away at Chelsea, Spurs, it’s tough. It’s in Arsenal’s hands and if they keep performing as they are they can do it.

“I don’t want to put too much pressure on the Arsenal players. I said they are rebuilding their reputation and sometimes they’ve been guilty of too many pats on the back and they’ve lost concentration. Is it different now? They have to show it.

“I like the look of the run-in for Spurs.”

Are Spurs really the favourites to finish in the top-four?

Theoretically, Man United are still in the race but one or maybe two more losses and they are will also fall out of the top-four race.

United have played more games than Spurs and Arsenal so they are at a massive disadvantage and since they have been really inconsistent, it will be next to impossible for them to overtake the two North London sides.

Arsenal have been on a roll in the previous few months but because they are working with a very small squad, it will be really tough for Mikel Arteta’s side to maintain the same level of intensity for the rest of the season.

Spurs though seemed to have peaked at the perfect time and as a major advantage, their remaining games are very much winnable. Liverpool are the only top-six side they will face in the next few months and if they can pick up something from that match as well then they have a massive chance at leapfrogging over the Gunners.
