Chelsea could well have their first summer signing wrapped up very soon.
Or at least, before June 30 anyway, because this is when his club needs to have their books balanced by.
With the new owners now officially in the door and the Todd Boehly era begins, Chelsea have a number of positions they are looking to strengthen in. The priority is at the back where they are losing a number of key players.
Sky Sports claim that Chelsea already have a verbal agreement to sign Jules Kounde from Sevilla, and it is just the fee to agree.
The Spanish club are preferring a quick deal as they aim to balance their books before June 30.
Talks on a deal for Kounde had collapsed last year but there is optimism from all parties it will get done this time.
Sky claim other options for the defence are Presnel Kimpembe of PSG, Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez, and RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol.
