The way we’re thinking and writing about the Jules Kounde deal, you’d think it was already done.
You can’t blame us – it was almost done a whole year ago, and this last season has felt very much like a delay rather than a finish to the saga.
Now Sevilla are more pressed to sell, Chelsea are more pressed to buy, and Kounde is fresh out of patience having waited a year. So everything is heading in the right direction, but we can’t get ahead of ourselves.
For one thing, despite all the talk of a deal almost being done, Sevilla have yet to even receive a bid from Chelsea.
Jules Koundé deal, still priority for Chelsea. Tuchel wants him. Talks are well advanced on player side, while Sevilla are still waiting to receive the opening bid for the French centre back. 🔵 #CFC
Price tag will be around €65m, less than €80m release clause.

Of course that might not mean much – Chelsea have likely been sorting out the personal terms with Kounde first, and assuming they have a rough figure agreed with Sevilla already, the bid itself can be the final part of the puzzle.
But we certainly shouldn’t be counting our chickens yet.
