Chelsea are set for a big summer this year – even technical and performance advisor Petr Cech has admitted it.
They have a lot of players leaving, some against the club’s will and some very much with the club’s blessing.
The new owners aren’t going to spend silly money, but they will want to leave their stamp on the club immediately, and this summer provides the perfect opportunity to do so.
There will be major changes throughout the team, but who are the 5 players the Blues need to sign to improve their team? And how do UK online casino sites rate their odds of completing those deals?
Jules Kounde in unquestionably number one. Chelsea are in desperate need of a centre back, and they came close to signing the Sevilla man a year ago. He’s an incredible 1/5 on to complete his long awaited move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
In midfield, we would all love to see Declan Rice return to the team where he had his formative years. His odds are significantly longer at 7/2 because of his long contract and West Ham’s monster asking price.
In attacking areas, Ousmane Dembele on a free transfer looks a no brainer if we can agree a reasonable wage with him. He thrived with Thomas Tuchel at Dortmund, and has odds of 10/11 at most bookies.
As for wild cards – how about Richarlison, who we’ve seen the Blues linked with in recent days? He’s a fearsome competitor and would really add some bite to the team up top.
The fact that two first team defenders have left means there’s likely to be two major additions at the back, and if Kounde is a given, the other slot is much more open. We’ve heard the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly linked, along with Gleison Bremer of Torino and Alessio Romagnoli of AC Milan.
But the smart money is on Josko Gvardiol, the RB Leipzig defender who Thomas Tuchel is reportedly a big fan of. He’s a mid priced option, at a good age and with solid top 5 league experience. He’s more of a gamble than Kounde, but if there’s one solid strategy you can bank on in football at the moment, it’s letting Red Bull do your scouting for you and then paying them the premium to pass them on.
We don’t expect Chelsea to sign all 5 of these guys, but we would be very surprised if they end up with fewer than 2 of them.
