Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele is going to be on his way this summer.
His contract expires at the end of this month, and it seems like the club have stopped all negotiations with him after giving up on tying him down to a new deal.
That’s where Chelsea come in.
They’re looking to add some attacking flair, and while his contract would be eye watering, they at least miss out on the transfer fee. SportWitness have translated claims from Spain that the Catalan club will not make a move to replace him until the end of his month, when his wages are off the books.
That means Chelsea are locked in a waiting game until then, hoping that they are still Dembele’s favoured option when he’s a free agent.
That gives them time to arrange sales for some of their unwanted players in his position – Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic could all be on the chopping block.
