Chelsea “really close” to signing MLS star after Real Madrid bid is rejected » Chelsea News

We were expecting a lot of Chelsea transfer activity in this window, but signing a third choice keeper wasn’t exactly what we had in mind.

Nevertheless, it seems that Gabriel Slonina could be Chelsea’s first signing of this summer. The Chicago Fire goalkeeper is a target for the Blues, as reported by Fabrizio Romano over the last few days.

He says that Chelsea are “really close” to signing the talented goalkeeper, who has impressed as a first choice stopper in the MLS. It seemed like Real Madrid were front of the queue after Chelsea lost ground during the sanctions, but the turnaround has been rapid this week.

Romano reports it could be a €10m fee, which must be higher than the rejected Madrid bid.

Slonina will be third on the roster after Edouard Mendy and Kepa, and we would assume he remains in MLS loan for a year at least before coming to Europe.
