Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is being handed control over transfer targets this summer at Chelsea, as the new owners continue to bed in after being in charge for just over two weeks now.
Tuchel will be given the keys this summer and the targets will be driven by players that he wants to sign. This isn’t saying he will get every player that he wants, but his say will certainly have a big impact on who they target this next couple of months.
This might mean that Tuchel reignites his interest in signing Achraf Hakimi from PSG, who he wanted to sign last summer, and is a ‘big fan’ of, according to Fabrizio Romano on Caught Offside this morning.
“Chelsea wanted Achraf Hakimi a year ago, and certainly he has always been high on the list of Thomas Tuchel, who is a big fan of Hakimi,” Romano says.
“So far, Paris Saint-Germain have assured that they have not received any proposals.”
Although Romano says there is no indication that Hakimi will leave this summer, he says that Hakimi has always been ‘high on the list’ at Chelsea.
And if Cesar Azpilicueta leaves the club, there might be need for extra cover on the right.
