Chelsea confident of securing Kounde despite Barcelona push » Chelsea News

Chelsea’s interest in Jules Kounde has been going on for so long that it’s seemed inevitable that he will come to Stamford Bridge this summer.

But that kind of complacency can really cost you in the cutthroat transfer market at the top level, and Barcelona’s recently reported interest in the defender will certainly make things more difficult.

The Evening Standard report that Chelsea “remain confident” of completing a move for the defender, and we’re definitely in line with that.

Barcelona’s financial issues will make it almost impossible for them to match Chelsea’s offers, which area expected to be well north of €50m.

Even if Kounde wanted a Barca move – and as far as we can tell he’s just as keen on coming to the Premier League – we should be able to keep them at arms length financially.

We won’t rule anything out, but we’re also not going to get unduly worried.
