Will Michael Keane be a risky signing for West Ham United?

Gabby Agbonlahor has urged West Ham United to steer clear from signing Everton centre-back Michael Keane.

Michael Keane has been heavily linked with the Hammers and now that Toffees have signed Tarkowski, Lampard is reportedly willing to sell the 29-year-old.

Agbonlahor however, has found several flaws in Keane’s game which is why he doesn’t want the Hammers to sign him.

He told Football Insider: “I wouldn’t go for him. Michael Keane has done a decent job as a defender but he’s getting found out now, he’s getting targeted.

“I used to target defenders and he would be one that I targeted and wanted to run onto and in behind. It’s happened too often.

“If he does come in, they are going to have someone quick next to him because he’s not very quick at all. He doesn’t move his feet quick enough.

“Frank Lampard will be happy to get rid of him.”

Will Michael Keane be a poor signing for West Ham United?

David Moyes wants Michael Keane as the long-term partner for Kurt Zouma and while he has a few flaws, we don’t see a better option for the Hammers right now.

After Tarkowski’s signing, Everton are more than willing to let Keane leave and the ex-United player will any day be an upgrade to players like Dawson and Ogbonna.

He might be a player with flaws but without Europa League or Champions League football, West Ham won’t be able to attract any of the bigger names. They will be playing in the Conference League next season and the recently developed third tier of European football is not enough to lure in the star performers.

He’s played close to 200 games for Everton since 2017 and under a manager like David Moyes, Michael Keane can surely peak as a defender.
