Is Cristiano Ronaldo going to leave Manchester United this summer?

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo might be looking to secure an exit from the club during the summer, claims Spanish news outlet Diario AS.

Ronaldo’s return to United has been questioned by many but despite the club’s woes, the forward still managed to score 18 league games this season.

A few months ago, there were doubts that CR7 will look to leave at the end of the season if the club cannot remain in the Champions League and it looks like those fears are coming true.

Rumours have it that Ronaldo is unhappy with the club’s transfer business and he does not want to spend the final few years of his playing career scraping the bottom.

Which club is interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo?

As per the report, Bayern Munich, who are set to lose Robert Lewandowski, are planning to sign Ronaldo as a replacement.

Barcelona are inching closer to the signing of Lewandowski and now the forward has also informed Bayern that he wishes to leave this summer.

In such a scenario, the German giants have swiftly shifted their focus to the Manchester United frontman.

Will Cristiano Ronaldo join Bayern Munich?

A move to Bayern Munich will suit the Germans as well as Ronaldo because, at the Allianz Arena, the forward will be guaranteed titles.

The Bundesliga title is more or less a given and Bayern are also one of the favourites when it comes to winning the Champions League. Also, the Bavarians are a well-oiled machine so CR7 won’t have to carry the team on his shoulders.

However, while Cristiano Ronaldo is said to be keen to make a move to Germany, he will have to take a massive pay cut to be able to join Bayern Munich.

According to Spotrac, Ronaldo earns £510,000 per week at Man United but there’s no way Bayern Munich will agree to pay such wages. Currently, Lewandowski is Bayern’s highest earner at £325 000 per week.

The multiple-time Ballon d’Or winner has never played in the Europa League so we can understand why wants an exit but if he is really interested in joining Bayern Munich then he has to make a significant financial sacrifice, or else this transfer is not likely to happen.
