Our lives are in danger – Nigerian family in Canada cries out seeks asylum as they face deportation (Video)

In a heartfelt plea that has resonated across social media platforms, a Nigerian family currently seeking asylum in Canada has shared their harrowing ordeal and implored the government not to deport them, citing grave concerns for their safety if forced to return to their home country.

The family’s desperate cry for help was captured in a poignant video posted on TikTok by user @glowwriyah, which has since garnered widespread attention. The video features the mother of the family, who converted from Islam to Christianity, recounting the distressing sequence of events that led them to flee their homeland.

In the emotional video, the mother bravely opens up about the heart-wrenching consequences of her decision to embrace Christianity. She recounts how her own family disowned her, leaving her and her immediate family to face immense isolation and vulnerability. The abandonment was a direct result of her conversion, a deeply personal and courageous choice that tragically severed familial ties.

The video goes on to reveal the family’s apprehensions about the dire threats they faced due to their newfound faith.

Fearing for their lives and safety, they embarked on a perilous journey to seek refuge in Canada, a North American nation renowned for its commitment to human rights and asylum protection.

Speaking about their ordeal, one of the family members said;

“l am an infidel as far as my family is concerned, I converted from Islam to Christianity. My family disowned me and in 1999 I went to my dad. I wanted to get married. When I walked into the room he was ironing his shirt or whatever.

“He had actually thought I had changed my mind and I had come to apologize for changing to Christianity. But when he realized that, that wasn’t the case he was angry. He hit me.

“My kids started telling me stories about some people and strangers walking. up to them and telling them, “Tell your parents that if you want to be alive, tell your parents to convert back to Islam.”
